Norton Anti-Virus 2001 Proper Settings
Instructions
You may think that loading Norton
Anti-Virus saves your butt from viruses and worms, but think
again kids. Symantec by default when loaded leaves you wide open
to attacks. Follow the settings below to set up your NAV to save
your bacon.

Step 1: Double-Click on
the Norton Anti Virus icon on the lower right of your screen.
Step 2: You'll get this screen... Click on Options...
Step 3: Click on Auto-Protect, and then click on All
Files below. This scans ALL files instead of the default
Program Files for more protection...
Step 4: Click on Manual Scans and then All Files...
then click OK...
Step 5: Click on Scheduling... Then Click on Add
Event...
Step 6: Click Next...
Step 7: Click on Schedule LiveUpdate to update your Virus
Protection... Then click Next...
Step 8: Type in DEF Update for the name for this
Event... Then click Next...
Step 9: Click Daily... then click Next...
Step 10: Enter in a time you would be comfortable with.
This would generally a time when your computer will be on. Then
click Next...
Step 11: Click Finish...
Step 12: Check to make sure the Event is there and the
time is right.
All Done. You're very protected
now. More so than with Symantecs default protections.
